Following a successful first MOBILISE queer and sober dance party at the end of June, Fatt Projects, producers of the event presented as part of Birmingham 2022 Festival, have announced future dates for the series taking place at The Exchange in Birmingham
Comedian Joe Lycett hosted a Big Pride Party from his home city of Birmingham, live on Channel 4 on Sunday July 3, as part of the channel’s Proud All Over programming to celebrate 50 years of Pride in Britain, and viewers are already calling for the show to become a regular weekly fixture.
The grand final of Drag Idol 2022 was held at the Two Brewers, Clapham on Thursday, June 23, and it saw Birmingham’s Fatt Butcher compete against the other hopeful drag performers – Flick, Viola Viagra, and the wild card, Bonnie Banks.
In The Pageant of Birmingham, they will be exploring “the camp, chaotic, and downright baffling history of ’The Pageant of Birmingham 1938’.
Fatt Projects – formed by Adam Carver aka Fatt Butcher – is planning a series of “raucous, joyful and radical queer accessible sober social dance parties” under the name MOBILISE
PALAVER! is a new development programme. It presents queer-positive performances and workshops to kids aged 3-8 and family audiences.
