Interweaving Spaces, a free exhibition from artist Gil Mualem-Doron, is to open at Worthing Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday, August 19.

Interweaving Spaces, now three years in the making, is a large-scale immersive installation that explores biodiversity and cultural diversity.

The installation, originally commissioned by the Sussex Wildlife Trust, simulates an underwater kelp forest. More than 100 bespoke textile strips will be suspended in the eight-metre-high gallery, complemented by underwater and dance films, underwater photography, sound and special lighting.

One of the installation’s films, Code Red! Code Red!, created in collaboration with the dancer and choreographer Lya Abdou Issa (aka BikDimond), includes a sound piece sampling the inspirational speech by Barbados prime minister Mia Mottley at COP26, and will be performed live on August 19 at 2.30pm in the gallery.

The other exhibition film, The Callingwith the performer Dimitris Galanakis is filmed underwater, in a sunken ship, and it is a muse about the mythological Sirens and the revenge of nature.

Interweaving Spaces shows at Worthing Museum and Art Gallery till Sunday, November 5. More info HERE
