Brian Butler cruises BBC iplayer and finds Queer stories galore
Parliament has launched the second series of Your Story, Our History videos to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act. The Sexual Offences Act decriminalised private homosexual acts between men aged over 21, while at the same time imposing heavier penalties on street offences.
This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the passing of the Sexual Offences Act, which decriminalised consensual sex (in private) in England and Wales between men aged 21 and over. The show includes works from a period of over 100 years, and is bookended by the 1861 Offences against the Person Act, which abolished the death penalty for sodomy, and the ground breaking 1967 legislation.
