Homophobic telephone pest sent to prison

A persistent caller has been jailed after ignoring a ban to dial 999 or the non-emergency police number 101 and biting the police officer who went to arrest him. David Peapell, 51, of Dyke Road, Hove, was found guilty on June 11 following a trial at Lewes Crown Court of breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) and assaulting a police officer.

New LGBT Liaison Police Officer appointed

PC Sarah Laker, the LGBT Liaison officer at Sussex Police for the last few years, has stood down after working tirelessly in the role and achieving some great results. Following the introduction of Sussex Police’s new Local Policing Plan, the role of LGBT Liaison Officer remains, with the post for Brighton & Hove being filled by PC James Breeds who began work at the start of 2018 and has been quick to learn about the role.
