Brighton & Hove City Council has announced it is taking part in Keep Brighton & Hove Tidy during Keep Britain Tidy’s annual event, the Great British Spring Clean, which takes place between March 25 and April 10 and is an opportunity to get our city spick-and-span.
Council leader Phélim Mac Cafferty thanks the hundreds of people who carried out community clean ups during the Keep Brighton & Hove Tidy fortnight.
Two of the city’s main beaches have been classified as ‘excellent’ by the Environment Agency, winning Blue Flags from environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
Residents across the city roll up their sleeves, don their gloves and gear up for this year’s Great British Spring Clean. Volunteers from the council’s Tidy Up Team, members of Friends Groups and other organisations are teaming up with the council’s park rangers to take part in a month long programme of events.
Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy presents 190 awards to England’s very best beaches, including 65 international Blue Flags and 125 Seaside Awards (eight more than last year), with 42 beaches achieving both awards.
