GFC Brighton & Hove are still alive and kicking

After taking a break from league football in the Gay Football Supporters Network  league this season, GFC Brighton & Hove (formerly the Brighton Bandits) are rebuilding the team with a focus on its LGBT grassroots.

Paul Windsor, GFC Chair, said: “As a club, we lost touch with why we formed in 1997. We want to be a community club that welcomes people who love playing football whatever their ability.”

GFC have teamed up with BLAGSS Football, who run sessions on Wednesday evenings at 6pm – details on their Facebook page – and encourage players of all abilities to go along for a kickabout. People attending those sessions have then played for GFC in tournaments in Leicester, London and Bexley.

Sussex FA, as part of their support for GFC, also gave tickets to see England play Chile at Wembley.

The players also showed their support for Football v Homophobia’s month of action in February.

On alternate Saturdays starting March 8, there will also be a session from 12-2, which will allow people to develop their skills, as well as have a kickabout. GFC would love to hear from anyone who wants to come and play.

Until their new website is running again, you can contact GFC Brighton and Hove via the BLAGSS Football Facebook page.
