Mike is the Conservative MP for Hove and Portslade and Intellectual Property Adviser to the Prime Minister.

Slash and Myles Kennedy played an acoustic set to a very exclusive audience of around 200 people. The gig was held in the Terrace Pavilion in the Houses of Parliament, and was attended by music industry aficionados, politicians, celebrities and fans of Slash and Myles.

Mike took the rock stars on an exclusive tour of the Houses of Parliament after the set was over.

The event was part of Rock the House, a competition that was founded by Mike in 2011 as a parliamentary initiative, with backing from industry and a host of celebrity patrons.

The event champions British creative industries and protects and promotes artists’ Intellectual Property Rights and was also the launch of Slash and Myles Kennedy’s new album, World on Fire, which comes out later in the year.

Mike said: “It was a privilege to welcome such rock icons to Parliament and I am grateful for Slash and Myles’ support for my Rock the House competition. The gig was absolutely fantastic and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of the launch of Slash’s new album, World on Fire. It was an honour to be in the first ever audience to hear their new record played live, along with the classics such as ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’, which certainly got the audience in fine spirits.”
