Brighton Bear Weekend to roar back to life in July!

Graham Robson February 17, 2022

Brighton Bear Weekend 2022 (BBW) is firmly back on the Brighton calendar, with this year’s Bear Weekend to take place from July 14 to 17.

Building on last year’s success, the main welcome event will commence in Dorset Gardens on the Friday evening at 5pm. The legendary Garden Party will commence at 12pm on the Saturday, again in Dorset Gardens, and both events will feature a full bar, with Lunch Positive serving food on both the Friday and the Saturday for the first time.

There’ll also be plenty of entertainment – more details to follow, but BBW are particularly excited about the first-of-a-kind international comedy cabaret they hope to announce shortly!

The Mr Brighton Bear competition will also be back, sponsored once again by Bear107; keep an eye out for info on how to enter!

Volunteer Meeting on Saturday, March 12

As usual, all BBW events are run entirely by volunteers, and marshalling and managing a small army of them falls to volunteer manager Robbie. If you’d like to volunteer this year, you can complete the brief web form by CLICKING HERE or email Robbie at robbie@brightonbearweekend.com.

BBW will be holding its 2022 Volunteer kick-off meeting at Centre Stage bar, 11 Marine Parade Brighton BN2 1TL on Saturday, March 12 at 4.30pm. All volunteers or potential volunteers are welcome; it’s the perfect chance to meet the team, and find out how much fun volunteering can be!

BBW 2021

If you’ve attended BBW before, you’ll know it’s always great fun. As well as bears, cubs and even a stray otter or two, BBW welcome all friends of the community. The event always attracts furry (and not so furry) men and their friends from around the world so pop it in your diary now and don’t miss out!

Proceeds raised from the entire weekend (including profits from the sale of exclusive BBW merchandise) go to the Brighton Rainbow Fund, a charity which in turn channels funds to a range of local charities benefiting the LGBTQ+ community.

Graham Munday, Chair of BBW, said: “We’re thrilled to be back, staging another live Brighton Bear Weekend hopefully without the sword of Covid hanging over us!  As always, the priority this year will be getting people out, having some fun in the sun, supporting each other, our venues, and the talent.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to what we hope will be a wonderful, safe, celebratory Brighton Bear Weekend!”
