The Day Room at The Sussex Beacon has been dedicated to the life and work of leading HIV expert Professor Martin Fisher who died earlier this year. The room, which is used for support services for people living with HIV, was officially named The Martin Fisher room at the charity’s Annual General Meeting on the evening of September 30.

Thanksgiving service to celebrate Martin Fisher’s life

Following the news of the death of Professor Martin Fisher on April 20, the following arrangements are now in place: On Tuesday, May 12 at 2pm, Martin’s funeral will take place attended by family, close friends and colleagues. On Thursday, May 21: from 10am – 12noon at St George’s Church, St George’s Road, Kemp Town, Brighton BN2 1ED, there will be a ‘Service of Thanksgiving’, offering patients, relatives, staff and colleagues an opportunity to gather together to give thanks for Martin’ life.

Martin Fisher R.I.P.

Professor Martin Fisher one of the worlds leading HIV physicians and specialists passed away last night. Martin was the first professor of HIV medicine at Brighton & Sussex Medical School, he was an honorary consultant physician in sexual health and HIV at Brighton and Sussex University Hospital (BSUH) and was instrumental in the development of the HIV department there since being in post in 1995.
