Cllr Jason Kitcat, has been honoured for his contribution to local government at a national awards ceremony The Green leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, has won the Judges Special Award for Contribution to Local Government at the sixth annual LGIU (Local Government Information Unit) Councillor Achievement Awards. The award ceremony held yesterday evening, Monday March 2, at the Lord Mayor’s Parlour, Westminster City Council are the only national platform to honour the hard work of councillors from across the country.

Racially abusive man prosecuted and barred from city’s taxis

A criminal anti-social behaviour order has been put on a Brighton and Hove man after a number of racially motivated crimes against taxi drivers in Brighton and Hove. John Michael Hughes, 50, of Dean Gardens, Portslade, appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 26, charged with racially aggravated crimes and causing intentional harassment, resisting arrest and criminal damage.

Free wifi coming to Brighton’s public buildings

Brighton & Hove’s town halls, museums, housing offices and children’s centres will soon offer free public wifi hotspots. Visitors to more than 50 buildings across the city will be able to access the free facility on their mobile devices, including at the Brighton Centre, Portslade’s Village Centre, Hove Town Hall and the seafront office.
