Climbing Everest for The Brighton Rainbow Fund
Helen Woodcock-Downey has been climbing stairs during lockdown to keep fit, and whilst climbing the stairs she thought “Why not make good use of this, and raise money for charity”
Helen decided to challenge herself to climb the height of Everest at home ( 8848m), and a target of 1000 for The Brighton Rainbow Fund and set up a Justgiving page here .
Helen has now completed three stages in three of the ten days it will take, and is approaching 50% of her fundraising target, and has already climbed 2665metres!
Here’s her live video link update from Basecamp/ staircase landing 1.
Chris Gull, Chair of The Brighton Rainbow Fund,
“What an extraordinarily generous challenge to undertake. We distribute grants to local LGBTQ+ and HIV projects, and face our own challenges this year with the cancellation of our major fundraising events such as Pride and Brighton Bear Weekend. Bobble hats off to Helen for thinking of us, and the vital services that we support”
