The award of £61,330 will be used by the Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company (CIC) to refurbish the facility, which is the UK’s only Grade II star listed lido.

Simon Kirby the Conservative MP for Kemptown and Peacehaven is a long standing campaigner on behalf of Saltdean Lido and has worked closely with the CIC to help them realise their ambition of returning the lido to its former glory.

Simon said: “I am delighted that the Saltdean Lido CIC has received its first major grant from the Community Asset and Services Grant Programme.

“It is a further sign that the Saltdean Lido campaign is making real progress. That is testament to the dedication of Rebecca Crook and the CIC in pursuing such a worthwhile cause, and I want to take this opportunity to congratulate them.”

“There is still a long way to raise the necessary funds to refurbish the lido. I want to assure people in Saltdean and across my constituency that I will continue working to support the CIC so that this historic community asset can be restored and provide a real boost to the area.”
