‘No Place for Hate’ – new poem from Andreena Leeanne for National Hate Crime Awareness Week

The organisers of #NationalHCAW have announced they have commissioned a new poem by Andreena Leeanne, No Place for Hate, for National Hate Crime Awareness Week, which takes place from Saturday, October 10 to Saturday, October 17.

Andreena is an out and proud black lesbian poet, inspirational speaker and mother. London born of Jamaican heritage, she currently lives with her fiance Germaine and her daughter Renee in Waltham Forest. In 2015 she founded Poetry LGBT Open Mic Night, a warm and inclusive community-centred performance space she facilitates/comperes live at physical venues in East London, and online via Zoom.

A Stonewall Black History Month role model, Andreena delivers writing workshops online and in person, and regularly performs her poetry at black and LGBTQ+ events, Labour Party events, and for local authorities such as the London Borough of Hackney, the Greater London Authority at International Women’s Day events, and has her work published in the Team Angelica anthology Sista! Most recently she was shortlisted by the National Diversity Awards as a Positive LGBT Role Model.
