LGBTQ+ artist Sarah Jane Moon included in Royal Society of Portrait Painters’ Annual Exhibition

LGBTQ+ artist Sarah Jane Moon‘s portrait Nicole & Kai has been included in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters‘ Annual Exhibition, which runs at Mall Galleries, London from September 16 to 26.

Sarah Jane Moon, a talented LGBTQ+ artist whose work explores identity, sexuality and gender presentation as well as interrogating formal painterly concerns, describes her portrait Nicole & Kai as ‘a portrait of two wonderfully creative women who live in Amsterdam and are friends of mine through the queer community.’

Prizes awarded by the Society are the £10,000 Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture, the Prince of Wales’ Award for Portrait Drawing, Burke’s Peerage Foundation Award for Classically Inspired Portraiture, the de Laszlo Foundation Award and the Smallwood Prize for Contextual Portraiture.

Prize Winners will be announced online at 5pm on Wednesday, September 16.

As the exhibition was postponed due to Covid-19, many of the works are already available to view online.
