Drag Race wins big at 2020 Emmy Awards

Rachel Badham September 22, 2020

RuPaul’s Drag Race took home six Emmys at the annual TV award ceremony, including Outstanding Competition Program. Drag Race beat popular shows Nailed It!, The Masked Singer, The Voice and Top Chef for the honour of Outstanding Competition Program, and RuPaul also won Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition show. Other wins included Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program and Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling.

RuPaul dedicated his win to fellow queen Chi Chi DeVayne, who died of pneumonia earlier this year at 34-years-old, saying ‘may you rest in power and perfection’. Drag Race season 2 star Raven (also featured in All Stars season 1) won her first Emmy this year for Outstanding Makeup for a Multi-Camera Series and was widely congratulated by fans of the show.

Since 2016, Drag Race has claimed 19 Emmys in total.
