Learn to swim with Out to Swim Brighton & Hove

Graham Robson February 20, 2024

Out to Swim Brighton & Hove is inviting LGBTQ+ people to its swimming lessons at the King Alfred Swimming Pool every Saturday between 5 – 6pm.

A dedicated lane will be reserved for the lessons, for four to six swimmers (numbers subject to ability), and there will be a designated swimming coach.

Out to Swim requires each person who wishes to join to be able to swim 50 metres, which is two lengths, regardless of stroke, being comfortable out of your depth (swimming in the deep end) and able to tread water.

The aim of lessons is to: increase confidence in the water; understand and learn the keystrokes, including Freestyle (Front Crawl), Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly; qualify for lessons and achieve promotion to the main club swimming and the ability to join the mid-week swimming sessions.
