Brighton venues and Brighton Bear Weekend to raise funds for the Sussex Beacon in February

Graham Robson January 24, 2023

Two of Brighton’s gay venues will be running events to raise vital funds for local HIV charity the Sussex Beacon in February.

On Saturday, February 4 from 9pm, the boys from Brighton Bear Weekend (BBW) will be throwing a Bears at the Bully party at the Bulldog, 31 St James’s Street, Brighton BN2 1RF.

Organisers say: “It is that time for the bears to ease out of hibernation. To help you with that, we are throwing a party at the all-new Bulldog!”

On the night, DJ Josh Sharp will be chucking out the tunes and there will be 20% discount on drinks. Funds raised on the night will go to the Brighton Rainbow Fund and the Sussex Beacon.

The Sussex Beacon says: “We’re delighted that the team at BBW will be supporting the Sussex Beacon at their upcoming Bears at the Bully event, at the Bulldog Brighton.

“As you may know, the BBW team do great work to support the very community of which we are enormously proud to be a part.

“Have a fabulously furry, fun time everyone!”

Get your thinking cap on on Thursday, February 23 from 8pm for Quizingo with host Ruffles at Centre Stage, 11-12 Marine Parade, Brighton BN2 1TL. Funds raised will go directly to the Sussex Beacon.

The Sussex Beacon says: “Maybe you’re a mastermind with super-duper general knowledge. Or maybe your knowledge of specialist subjects is … not so specialist. It matters not!

“The previous Quizingo held in December was a hilariously big night! Not only did everyone playing have great fun, a fantastic sum of money was also raised for the Sussex Beacon.

“Book your table while you can in person or give them a buzz on 01273 685 956.

“A reminder that money donated to the Sussex Beacon helps us continue our essential work, supporting and caring for people living with HIV across Sussex.“
