Bourne This Way, Eastbourne-based LGBTQ+ parents’ support group, made Community Interest Company

Graham Robson April 27, 2022

Bourne This Way (BTW), an Eastbourne-based group for LGBTQ+ parents and their children to meet and share experiences, has been made a Community Interest Company (CIC), which means it exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders.

BTW is a friendly and inclusive space, offering activities for group members such as fitness sessions, entertainment and therapy. It is open to all LGBTQ+ parents and their children, as well as prospective parents.

The group aims to bring people together within the community, to offer support in general and share advice with members wishing to embark on starting a family.

Libby King, founder of BTW, said: “After pushing through barriers of discrimination and navigating ourselves through a heterosexual health care system we have made history!

“Nearly two years on and we are going strong! Spreading awareness, support and providing activities for the LGBTQ+ community!

“The journey to parenthood can be hard for anyone and expensive but when you identify as LGBTQ+ you are up against it. BTW can help make this a smoother journey by sharing experiences and offering peer-to-peer support as well as counselling, mindfulness, yoga etc if needed.”
