New drag song from Vanity von Glow gives nod to Mariah this Christmas

Graham Robson December 10, 2023

Drag star of hit shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and in London’s West End, Vanity von Glow, is set to release her first song for Christmas. The song, Everlasting, will be released on Sunday, December 10 on all streaming platforms.

Vanity von Glow, who has appeared on hit TV and Streaming shows such as Amazon‘s The Three Drinkers and London Live‘s Drag Queens of London, has worked with emerging music producer Iwan Bedford on this synth-pop Christmas song.

The song’s lyrics nod to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You, as Vanity sings “Walking through the winter snow; Everybody’s hearts aglow ; Can’t believe you told me no; At Christmas; The season wouldn’t be complete; Without a little bittersweet; Mariah’s playing on repeat; This Christmas.”

Commenting on the song, Vanity von Glow said: “Drag Queens often put out silly songs about lipstick and high heels and ‘being fierce,’ or try to sound trendy by featuring a rap – but I just love Christmas and wanted to release something that felt like a modern classic Christmas bop. We had to give a nod to Mariah in the song – she is the epitome of Christmas music!

“Working with Iwan has been a great experience – we are an unlikely music pairing – but this is the first of many releases from us two purveyors of synthpop. Our EP is well on the way to being ready for you to listen to in 2024!”
