Brighton LGBTIQ+ History Club to explore Queers and Books at Brighton’s Jubilee Library on Sunday, February 26

Graham Robson February 2, 2023

Brighton LGBTIQ+ History Club is to return for its first event of 2023 on Sunday, February 26.

This time, Brighton LGBTIQ+ History Club has joined forces with Brighton’s Jubilee Library to celebrate LGBT+ History Month and explore all things Queers and Books!

Head along to the library on Sunday, February 26 at 2.30pm to explore and discuss books and libraries, and the spaces the queer community has claimed and inhabited.

Opening Pandora’s Box: queer dimensions of library legacies, struggles and hopes will see Alice Corble share stories from her career as a queer library user, worker, researcher and activist, reflecting on the spaces and communities of queer discovery and connection that libraries can foster, as well as institutional and societal constraints and conflicts that can limit such possibilities. The discussion will invite intergenerational lessons and longings for LGBTQ+ library lives.

Alice is a queer librarian, educator and scholar-activist whose interests and expertise converge around the intersectional and interdisciplinary social justice dimensions of library experiences, spaces, and collections.

More speakers TBA.

The event is a sober space, tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Jubilee Library is wheelchair accessible. If you have any accessibility needs you would like to discuss ahead of the event, email info@queerinbrighton.co.uk.

The event is free but spaces are limited and always sell out, so make sure you book HERE.
