Large drop in recorded crime

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics this week reveal that crime recorded by police in England and Wales has fallen by 7% in the year ending March 2013.

Recorded crime is down by more than ten per cent under the present government, and the independent survey shows that the public’s experience of crime is at its lowest level since records began.

There was more good news locally as crime in Sussex fell 6% in the year to March 2013.

A separate independent Crime Survey of England and Wales has also shown that overall crime fell by 9 per cent – to the lowest level since the survey began in 1981.

Simon Kirby, MP for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven welcomed the announcement.

Simon said:

“This dramatic fall in crime is very welcome news, and above all else it is a testament to the fantastic work of the police force. I would like to pay special tribute to Sussex Police for the impressive drop in crime we have seen locally.

These statistics show that our police reforms are continuing to deliver results across the country with falls in crime in every police force in England and Wales.

I know that fighting crime is one of the top priorities for people in Brighton Kemptown and that is why I am delighted that under this Government the streets of my constituency are safer than they have been for decades.”

Magic in the making

Georgia & Jazz

Have you ever heard of KickStarter?

KickStarter is a way in which people are provided the prospect to ‘crowd fund’ a project that they themselves cannot afford. KickStarter is full of diverse and interesting projects including Magic in the making.

Jazz and Georgia have approached the UK’s theatre company Theatre Giant for the opportunity to film and document the behind the scenes goings on of their new play Houdini!

Houdini is a UK and Ireland tour that will be visiting five great cities including Stoke-on-Trent, Swansea, Blackpool, Windsor and Dublin. The story follows the journey of the Houdini brothers, Theo and Harry Houdini, as they enter and compete in the world of show business.

From concept to completion, the brothers took their ideas and shaped them into stage spectaculars and this is what Jazz and Georgia wanted to capture.

So many students leave education knowing only what has been studied in books, but when it comes to the arts there is so much experience to be gained by sitting in and experiencing the real action.

Their documentary will be made up of 8 episodes:

  • The Show
  • The Director
  • Costume Design
  • Production Design
  • Illusion Design
  • Lighting and Sound Design
  • In Rehearsal
  • On Tour

From concept to completion, it is this idea that they really want to capture, showing the highs and lows of everything that has gone into this show to turn it into a success and stage spectacular, showing a breakdown of exactly what is necessary to bring a stage production to life, pulling it off of the paper and onto the stage.

The play stars the beautiful Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter), BAFTA winning actor Stuart Brennan and the handsome Jamie Nichols as Harry Houdini, as well as many more of the UK’s top rising talent.

Jazz and Georgia have come to the gay community for support.

At the moment their KickStarter campaign is running out of time, if they do not find more pledgers to receive their rewards all the money they have raised so far will be lost; taking their opportunity with it.

They need your support to bring Magic in the Making from concept to completion.

Check out the great rewards they have to offer on their KickStarter page with more information about their documentary, Houdini and the roaring 1920’s After Parties.

WooHoo! Organic Lube – Good clean fun!

Woohoo Lube

Woohoo! organic lube is a water-based organic lubricant with a silky and sensuous feel, designed to enhance intercourse and intimacy.

Containing only natural, organic ingredients, woohoo! has been designed to not only improve the nation’s sex lives, but also address the concerns of those worried about the ingredients found in their personal care products and what goes on, and in them.

Woohoo! was created for people concerned about the ingredients in intimate care products, and contains only organic, chemical-free high quality ingredients. Responsibly formulated using only certified organic ingredients, woohoo! has been awarded the prestigious Soil Association certification and it’s not tested on animals too.

So should you be on your way up Hanover, spending a light weekend on the Grind in Kemptown or just simply concerned that your more intimate membranes and surfaces aren’t getting as good a deal as your face then perhaps it’s time to switch to Woohoo!

In a road test with me and The Man for a long weekend of relentless humping, the tube performed well, it lasted, without stickiness or drying out for as long as most usual lubes, it’s without any residue and didn’t stain either. Unlike us. It coped with most of our filthy demands and passed the Ronsiel Test, it lubricates well. It’s easy to wash off, even coming off the chandelier without too much effort. There’s the extra goodness of knowing it’s organic if this is important to you and it’s reasonable priced too. The Man, being a hot tight eco warrior, in more than one sense of the word was delighted with it.

Its water based so ok to use with condoms and toys, although I wouldn’t’ try smearing it on the Play station 4, and no, it doesn’t make that noise when you open the tube… alas. Remember you should reapply the lube when things get dry to prevent ripping.

Out now £6.99 for 50ml. Available in all good lube stations and Boots. For more info see their website here: boots.com

Bear Patrol at Olympic Stadium

Danny Dwyer and the Patrolettes

Four Patrolettes from Bear Patrol, the social networking group for Bears and their admirers were picked to be one of the 15,000 runners taking part in The National Lottery Anniversary Run at the London 2012 – Olympic Stadium yesterday, Sunday, July 21. It was the first event staged at the Stadium since last summer’s Olympic and Paralympic games.

The five mile course went through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park before reaching a thrilling conclusion on the track inside the Stadium. Each runner was allowed to bring two friends or family members to the stadium to cheer them on to the finish line.

The National Lottery provided crucial funding to our Olympic and Paralympic athletes and supported a glorious summer of sport last year.  The National Lottery Anniversary Run, staged in partnership with the London Borough of Newham, celebrated the contribution and life-changing support players in the National Lottery continue to give both grassroots and elite sport in the UK.

Adam Betteridge, Dean Ashton, Fiona Coad-Window and Jonathan Terry received their medals after finishing the last 400 metres running around the Olympic Track.
