An 18-year-old trans girl was brutally stabbed 14 times in a violent attack while attending a birthday party in the London borough of Harrow, a court has heard.

Summer Betts-Ramsey, 19, appeared at Willesden Magistrates Court where she was charged with attempted murder; she also faced a charge of possession of an offensive weapon in public.

Prosecutor Bunsri Bhuwa confirmed to the court that the victim, a transgender teenage girl, was attacked by a group after being subjected to transphobic slurs at a roller-skating party.

Detective Inspector Nicola Hannant, leading the investigation, said: “This was a shocking and violent attack and we continue to support the victim and her family as she recovers from her injuries.

“Since the incident occurred, we have been working tirelessly to identify those responsible and are making good progress with our investigation.

“We have already arrested four people however we continue to appeal for anyone who may have been in the area or who believes they have further information to come forward and speak to us.

“We have increased police patrols in the area and would encourage people to approach these officers with any information or concerns.”

This attack comes just over a year since the brutal murder of Brianna Ghey, who was attacked in February 2023 by Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, who were subsequently found guilty of her murder.
