The Sussex Beacon’s Women’s Group to meet on Thursday, September 22

The Sussex Beacon‘s Women’s Group, a group for women living with HIV, is to meet on Thursday, September 22 from 10.30am.

On the day, Professor Yvonne Gilleece, HIV consultant at the Lawson Unit and Lead in HIV & Women, will be talking about HIV and women’s health. She will be able to answer any questions you have around women’s issues such as the menopause.

After that, Angelica Cabezas Pino, filmmaker and researcher at the University of Sussex, will be presenting her award-winning film This Is My Face: What Lies Inside A Journey With HIV (2019), which follows a creative process whereby people living with HIV challenge stigma and misrepresentation using photos and autobiographical storytelling in Chile.

After the film, Angelica will invite people to be part of a workshop on visual storytelling which will take place at the Sussex Beacon on the October 8.

The Sussex Beacon’s Women’s Group meet on Thursday, September 22, 10.30am-3pm. Lunch included.
