Peter Tatchell, the LGBT human rights campaigner, is scheduled to Chair a live panel debate at the first Proud2Be Totnes Pride at Totnes Civic Hall, Devon on Saturday, September 14 from 11.30am-4.30pm.

The event will include live music, food & drinks, workshops, exhibitions and stalls for local organisations.

Peter said:

“I am proud to support Proud2Be Totnes Pride 2013. I’ll be there and I hope you will join me for a fabulous celebration. The LGBT community makes an important, positive contribution to Totnes and Devon.

“There have long been LGBT Pride events in big cities like London and Bristol. But it is really important that Pride celebrations also happen in smaller town and cities too. LGBT people are often invisible in more rural parts of the country. Their input into local communities is frequently overlooked. Proud2Be Totnes Pride is the recognition that LGBT people are part of south Devon. We’re here, we’re queer and we love Totnes.

“It is important to keep campaigning for LGBT acceptance and human rights in Devon and all across the UK.”

Proud2Be Totnes Pride is the brainchild of gay identical brothers Mat and Jon Price, who together founded and run the Proud2Be Project, a social organisation that is dedicated to encouraging and supporting all LGBT people to be proud of who they are.
