SALTDEAN Lido Community Interest Company (CIC) will immediately receive £576,000 for development funding with the further £4.2 million being awarded later in the year.

This funding stream, coupled with the recent £2.5 million Government investment from the Coastal Communities Fund, means that the Saltdean Lido is even closer to being fully reopened.

Mr Kirby has been a long-time supporter of the CIC’s campaign to restore the Lido, and has been an active and vocal champion of the project.

Speaking about the announcement, a happy Mr Kirby said: “I am absolutely delighted that the Saltdean Lido CIC has received this £4.7 million in funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

“This really is fantastic news for all of the people in Saltdean and the local area, as it means that the campaign has taken one huge step forward. I know that a thriving Lido will be a massive boost for the community, and I look forward to it becoming as soon as possible a community facility for people to enjoy once more.”
