Elections for the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner and by-elections – following resignations of Chandni Mistry and Bharti Gajjar – took place to elect new ward councillors in Kemptown and Queen’s Park on Thursday, 2 May.
On Sunday, 5 May, the votes for the local by-elections and Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner election were counted and announced at the Brighton Centre. Kemptown by-election![]() Théresa Ann Mackey (Labour Party) has been elected as councillor for Kemptown.
The turnout in Kemptown was 34.8%. Queen’s Park by-election![]() Milla Gauge (Labour Party) has been elected as councillor for Queen’s Park.

Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner![]() Katy Bourne (Conservative Party) has been re-elected as Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner following an election on Thursday, 2 May. Ms Bourne was elected with a total of 122,495 votes across East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton & Hove.
