NHS England launches monkeypox vaccination clinic finder

Graham Robson October 24, 2022

NHS England has launched a new clinic finder to help gay and bisexual men locate their nearest monkeypox vaccination centre.

According to sexual health / HIV charity Terrence Higgins Trust (THT), around half of all people estimated to be at highest risk of exposure to monkeypox have still not had their first dose. The charity is encouraging people to make use of this new tool to book their vaccine and get protection against monkeypox.

The tool will provide you with the details of how to contact your nearest clinic. There are almost 100 clinics included in the tool, each with instructions on how to book a vaccine either by phone, email or online.

THT say: “You don’t need to have used the service before. We encourage people who are not linked to a sexual health clinic, but are at risk of getting monkeypox, to get vaccinated.

“The eligibility criteria for the vaccine has not changed; NHS England is prioritising first doses at this time. Make sure you read the criteria careful or you could risk being turned away at the appointment. People who need a second dose will be contacted by their clinic when these are available.”
