Mike Weatherley, the Conservative MP for Hove and Portslade, and founder of Rock the House, a music competition which draws attention to the importance of Intellectual Property, has put forward his nominations for Hove’s entry into the parliamentary competition.
Following a fierce battle of the bands, local artists from Sin to Survive and The Basis (an under-18 entry, whose music video was also submitted), have been nominated into Rock the House 2013, along with solo artist Julia Fitness. Rock the House, now Parliament’s biggest competition, was set up by Mike to raise awareness amongst MPs of Intellectual Property, copyright and live music.

“We’ve had an incredible 440 MPs nominate artists, bands and venues from their constituencies into this year’s competition – that’s over two thirds of MPs, which makes Rock the House Parliament’s largest ever competition. Hove has some excellent musical talent and we received so many entries that we decided to have a battle of the bands night to choose the final nominations.”
He added:
“It was tough having to narrow it down to three finalists, but I am delighted to nominate Sin to Survive, Julia Fitness and The Basis as Hove’s entries for Rock the House and wish them all the best of luck for their respective categories.”
