Pub Pride to spread the love over Pride Month

Graham Robson May 13, 2023

Hundreds of venues across the UK are set to welcome in Pride Month with Pub Pride throughout June.

Returning for its third year, the fast-growing event founded by and raising funds for the Ask for Clive campaign invites venues to host a Pub Pride event, and everyone to enjoy an uplifting celebration, welcoming in Pride Month locally with a series of joyful new events.

Thousands of staff in hundreds of venues are set to uncork a weekend packed with events. Thirty All Bar One venues and over 100 Punch Pub venues have been registered as well as Big Smoke Pubs across the southeast. From Farr Brew and the Mad Squirrel taprooms in Hertfordshire to big names like London’s Piano Works and Boxpark, the Fighting Cocks in Kingston, The Goose in Manchester and The Regent in Edinburgh.

New events are being added by a growing list of venues every week, but several are party-ready. The Jolly Sportsman in Chesham is hosting a drag disco and Pride classics karaoke. Elsewhere, The Rock House in Manchester is hosting Pride quizzes, games, and will also be inviting a soon-to-be-confirmed drag act to perform. St Albans’ The Horn will host live music and Pride-themed cocktails, whilst The Star in Harrow is hosting a Whitney Houston tribute night.

Danny Clare, Co-Founder and Chair of Ask for Clive, commented: “We are once again thrilled with the support of pubs and Hospitality to Pub Pride 2023 and the Ask For Clive campaign. We have some wonderful new partners and iconic LGBTQ+ venues taking part, both national and local. All participating venues can be found on the Pub Pride map here.

“It’s humbling to see the commitment businesses have made to diversity and inclusion and we look forward to the local LGBTQ+ community, their family, friends, employers, colleagues and allies enjoying a wonderful Pub Pride 2023 on Friday, May 26.

“The Ask For Clive campaign is most effective where you expect to see it least, we’re truly grateful to the pubs and venues that are prepared to put those colours on their door and show what they stand for.”
