Learn to swim in 2024 with Out to Swim Brighton & Hove

Graham Robson December 6, 2023

As part of Out to Swim Brighton & Hove‘s plan to encourage a wider range of swimmers, the swimming group is re-introducing swimming lessons in 2024.

Lessons will be held at the King Alfred Swimming Pool on Saturdays between 5 – 6pm, commencing Saturday, January 6, 2024.

A dedicated lane will be reserved for the lessons which will have a designated swimming coach. Lessons will be held for four to six swimmers (numbers subject to ability).

Out to Swim Brighton & Hove requires each person who wishes to join lessons to be able to swim 50m (two lengths) regardless of stroke, being comfortable out of your depth (swimming in the deep end) and able to tread water.

The aim of the lessons is;

  • To provide individuals confidence in the water;

  • To understand and learn the keystrokes including Freestyle (Front Crawl), Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly;

  • To qualify for lessons and achieve promotion to the main swimming club and the ability to join the mid-week swimming sessions.

The cost for lessons will be;

  • Membership of Swim England for which the ASA swim fees must be paid which is currently £16.50 per annum

  • Payment of the full membership direct debit which will be £51.45 per month in 2024.

To sign up, complete the form here.
