In 2014 Brighton Trans*formed set off to record and document the lives and experiences of Brighton & Hove’s trans community.

Using writing, memories, oral histories and photography, the project captured a snapshot of the rich variety of trans lives in Brighton & Hove at a moment of significant change for the community.

The project’s contributors ranged from 18 to 81 years old with very different life experiences, and participants interviewed each other, resulting in a collection of stories that are deeply personal and honest.

Ten years later Brighton LGBTIQ+ History Club invites all project participants to celebrate the ten year anniversary of the project.

On Sunday, April 28 from 2 – 4pm, join project participants and contributors at The Old Courtroom, Brighton BN1 1UD for an afternoon of readings, and a panel discussion on collecting, documenting, and making queer and trans history, exploring questions around language and identity, and the project and its legacy have changed in the past ten years.

Hot drinks and light refreshments will be provided.

Please note this event is being held at The Old Courtroom, and not at our usual Museum location, for increased capacity.

The event is free/pay what you can – but spaces are limited, so make sure you BOOK YOUR SPACE NOW.
