Blue Badge Bill completes House of Lords Committee stage

Besi Besemar December 20, 2012

Simon Kirby, MP

Simon Kirby MP’s Disabled Personsā€™ Parking Badges Bill has completed its Committee Stage in the House of Lords. As no changes were suggested it will now proceed directly to Third Reading, bypassing the Report Stage in a procedure known as ā€œorder of commitment dischargedā€.

A date for the Third Reading is yet to be scheduled, but it should take place early in the new year.

Welcoming the news Mr Kirby, said:

ā€œI am extremely pleased that my Bill continues to have such cross party support, which has allowed it to progress smoothly through both Houses of Parliament so far.
Ā
The Bill will make significant improvements to the Blue Badge scheme, making it much better for disabled people who rely on the availability of disabled parking spaces.
Ā
I look forward to the Disabled Personsā€™ Parking Badges Bill gaining Royal Ascent in 2013.ā€

Simon Kirby is MP for Kemptown and Peacehaven.
