Rapper Da Brat has announced she is in a lesbian relationship with Kaleidoscope Hair Products CEO Jesseca Dupart. In an emotional video posted on her Instagram page, the Grammy-nominated artist who is best know for her collaborations with the likes of Missy Elliot, Maria Carey and Destiny’s Child, confirmed her loved-up status to a legion of followers.
The video opens with a breathless, sobbing Da Brat seemingly overwhelmed by the gift of a white Bentley from her adoring partner, who tries to comfort her throughout.
Her lover Dupart then posted a photo of them embracing entitled simply “Yep” and another of the ladies’ matching white Bentleys side by side with the message “Hers n Hers”. This is the first time the Chicago born musician and actress has openly shared news of her gay relationship.
Da Brat was the first female rap artist to go platinum
In a message to her fans, Da Brat said
“I’ve always been a kind of private person until I met my heart’s match who handles some things differently than I do. I have never experienced this feeling. It’s so overwhelming that I often find myself in a daze hoping to never get pinched to see if it’s real so I can live the dream forever.”
Dupart then posted an update thanking all for “the love and support. It FARRR outweighs the hatred and the lies.”
