Cherry Fakewell’s STAUNCH! to raise funds for the Sussex Beacon

Graham Robson July 21, 2022

STAUNCH!, an immersive cabaret with drag performers, loud music stand up and acrobats, is to raise funds for local HIV charity the Sussex Beacon at The Curzon in Brighton on Saturday, July 23 from 7pm.

Organiser Cherry Fakewell said: “Gather round my darlings, for we have a tale of the FORBIDDEN, a story of the FIERCE and a telling of PURE, FABULOUS, GLAMOUR!”

Set in 1930s Britain – a “time where same sex-intimacy was only tolerated in the world of cabaret” – STAUNCH! is hosted by Madame Fakewell and her gaggle of working class queers. She runs a tight ship, but will lead you down a path of cabaret, showbiz and glamour, where you too can explore your deepest desires.

Cherry Fakewell added: “Where do you find this place? Well that depends who you know, if you know where to head, which alley to stumble down, you know who to follow and you know the passcode…

“We present to you STAUNCH! So worry not, and be quick! Avoid the old bill in the veil of the night and get down to STAUNCH! where you TOO can be a star!”

STAUNCH! at The Curzon, 7 Rock Street, Brighton, BN2 1NF on Saturday, July 23, doors 7pm, show 8pm.
