Nominate a local Community Hero to be a Batonbearer for 2022 Commonwealth Games

This year Birmingham is hosting the Commonwealth Games 2022 where up to 6,600 sports men and women from across 72 nations and territories are expected to compete, bringing nations together in a colourful celebration of sport and human performance.

The Queen’s Baton Relay will travel to every region in England before arriving at the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games on July 28. Nominations for local Community Heroes are open until February 14.

The criteria for a Batonbearer are someone who meets one or more of the following:

Alan Robins, Mayor of Brighton & Hove, said: “Being a Batonbearer is an opportunity to get involved in a festival of sport that is renowned for inspiring athletes to compete in the spirit of friendship and fair play.

“We have many inspiring people in our city who contribute positively to our communities and would thoroughly deserve to represent Brighton & Hove in this way.”
