BRIGHTON FRINGE PREVIEW: Angel to Vampire! by Nigel Osner

Nigel Osner brings an angel and a demon from Edinburgh to Brighton!

Nigel Osner brings Angel to Vampire! to the Sweet Waterfront for the Brighton Fringe after the show was very well received at the Edinburgh Fringe 2016.

Nigel takes an intimate and engaging cabaret journey through a lifetime of yearning, illustrated by original songs and stories.

A series of quirky characters, male and female, include a rebellious Archangel Gabriel who has left a bureaucratic heaven to join a jazz band in New Orleans; a charming vampire with his eye on the audience for his next snack; and a woman rather like Marlene Dietrich who sings about the joys of loving only herself. The show is directed by the actress Janine Wood.

Nigel wants his show to look good. He had vampire fangs made by a fangsmith and angel wings specially designed for him. He added to his costumes by buying the super, long, fake fur coat that was worn by the lady mayor in The Toxic Avenger during its London run in 2016! All this is to produce an inventive and dramatic show which is always entertaining, whether funny or wistful.

Once a practising barrister, Nigel is now a performer, actor, lyricist and writer. In London he has appeared at mainstream venues, like the St James Studio and the Crazy Coqs, and alternative venues, like Electrowerkz and the Lexington (The Queer alternative).

He has acted in two feature films and many short films. On stage his most recent roles were as a drag queen in an updated version of The Duchess of Malfi at the Bethnal Green Working Men’s club (2014) and as a precious poet in the new black comedy A rather English murder (2015).

He is the author of Magic in Ravenswood (Heinemann) which he adapted into a musical called Goblins Don’t Scare Us with music by BB Cooper, premiered in London in 2002/3.

His fantasy novel ‘worldoflegends.com’ is available on Amazon.
