Rainbow pilgrims pop-up exhibition – For one night only!

Rainbow Pilgrims, a landmark project that discovers the hidden history of LGBT+ migrants in the UK past and present, will launch at Brighton & Hove Progressive Synagogue tomorrow, (May 19) at 6pm.

Rainbow Pilgrims is a landmark oral history and archive project that discovers the hidden history of LGBT+ migrants in the UK, past and present. They have created an archive collection, which will be the first source of LGBT and migration in a faith context in Britain.

THE Rainbow Pilgrims Exhibition explores the narratives around ‘rites and passages’ of LGBT+ migrants, documenting the interconnection between faith, sexuality, gender and ethnicity.

May 19 celebrates the Jewish festival of Shavuot. Brighton & Hove Progressive Synagogue will hold a service and migration themed ‘study all-night-event’ from 8pm after the public launch of the Rainbow Pilgrims exhibition.

From 9-10pm project founder Shaan Knan will give a talk about this pioneering initiative and show the Rainbow Pilgrims documentary film by Andrew Cummings.

To attend you must apply by contacting Brighton & Hove Progressive Synagogue direct. 01273 737223 or email: info@bhps-online.org

Rainbow Pilgrims is supported by The National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and hosted by Liberal Judaism (LJ).
