Pride returns to Southampton on Sunday, August 28

Pride returns to Southampton for the first time in 20 years on Sunday, August 28, with a one day family event bringing together people from Southampton and the South Coast to promote acceptance of all people everywhere.

Organiser promise something for everyone…. food, drink, live music and top dollar entertainment, face-painting, things to buy, crafts to make, dancing to do, water for dogs and much, much more!

The Street Party begins on West Marlands Road, outside The Stage Door Fringe Theatre, Cafe and Bar, at 11am. Live music starts at midday continuing till late at night. Your host for the day is Velma Celli and Marcus Collins, X Factor runner-up 2011 will headline the main stage at 6pm. There will be cabaret at the London Hotel all evening and an official after party at The Edge and The Box Bar through till the very wee hours of the morning!

The free Community Parade starts outside The Stage Door at 3pm, continues up West Marlands Road, around Guildhall Square, down Above Bar Street to the Bargate Monument, around the monument, back up Above Bar Street to Guildhall Square and back along West Marlands Road.

Dress up, take the kids, your parents, your dog, your family and your friends!  Be as colourful as you can and make some noise!

Southampton City Council have agreed to a Pride event this year at very short notice on the understanding that alcohol to be consumed MUST be purchased on site from the various drinks concessions and The Stage Door and MUST NOT be taken outside of the West Marlands Road/Guildhall Square area.

There is a strict alcohol drinking ban in public areas in Southampton City Centre and organisers are very fortunate to have been granted an alcohol license for the street party. They ask that people attending the event behave responsibly and help them make Southampton Pride 2016 the best it can be and ensure that it comes back next year.

Sponsors Solent University are offering their university halls as accommodation for anyone visiting Southampton for Pride at an amazing £20 per night and you can book for more than one night if you wish!
