PREVIEW: Digital ghost story Declan to raise funds for Actors Centre

Playwright, director, actor Alexis Gregory’s latest venture is to direct an online play that blurs past, present and future, the living and the dead.

Alexis, whose many credits include the recent Boys on Film 20 series of lgbtq+ films , and a UK tour of Riot Act, coinciding with LGBT History Month, is wearing  his director’s hat for this play which is written by and stars Alistair Hall.

He told me : “ Alistair and I are really excited to be presenting this special digital version of Declan. I loved the script as soon as I read it and Alistair is great in it . We have tried to create a special experience for the audience that fits somewhere between the stage and the screen. “

The play, which is raising funds for the Actors Centre in London, is streamed from 19 to 28 June. Alexis hopes it will be staged at the London venue later in the year.

Set in a Wiltshire suburb, Declan is a contemporary ghost story, exploring isolation, fear of the outside world and the distance between two friends . Main character Jimbo, whose best friend is Declan,  is plagued by ghosts of the past, present and future and the boundaries between the living  and the dead.

Alexis’  acting career has included a 2020 residency at the Soho Theatre in Sex/Crime and his tour of Riot Act.
