2015 was a bumper fundraising year for Bear-Patrol, the LGBT social group, with lots of gatherings, awards and fundraising events raising a staggering £40,351.36. This brings the grand total raised by Bear Patrol to an amazing £129,198.62 since their first fundraising event in January 2011.
Brighton Bear Weekend and Subline will be working together again for a third year throwing another night of spooky madness tonight. Hairy-oween takes place tonight, October 31, from 9pm at Subline. Make an effort to dress up and you be rewarded with a £3 discounted door entry, otherwise entry is £5. Not only that, but if you are in costume you will have a chance to win a prize for best costume on the night.
Sonny and Nicole from Dr Martens the Iconic footwear brand and retailer handover £570 to Chris Gull the chair of the Rainbow Fund. The money was raised during Pride when staff at the shop sold raffle tickets to win various pairs of unique Dr Martens boots specially designed for the raffle.
Following a recent grant from the Rainbow Fund, the Rainbow Chorus have established monthly singing groups for those wishing to develop their confidence and play a part in the full chorus programme.
2015 has been a record-breaking year for Brighton Bear Weekender (BBW). More events, more men and more money raised for the Rainbow Fund than ever before. Chris Murphy who originally had the idea for the BBW has been appointed as the organisations new Patron.
Adam Brooks, the current Golden Handbag Landlord of the Year and Matt Richards the current Golden Handbag Barman of the Year receive their certificate for raising £760.06 for the Rainbow Fund.
Jason Sutton, aka Miss Jason, joined Danny Dwyer, Ant Howells and Ian Chaplin from Bear-Patrol at Emporium on London Road to hand over £3,601.60 to Chris Gull, Chair of the Rainbow Fund.
The organisers of Brighton Pride have broken all fundraising targets this year, raising over £100,000 for local LGBT/HIV organisations and good causes. Legends are once again the largest contributors to this year event having donated £5,000 to sponsor the Cabaret Tent and raising £1,542.27 at the annual Sunday Pride Cabaret Fundraiser for the Rainbow Fund which included a personal donation of £1,000 from Tony Chapman, owner of Legends.
Brighton Bear Weekender raise record £5453 for the Rainbow Fund from fourteen events for bears and their admirers over the 3rd weekend in June. It was a record-breaking year for Brighton Bear Weekender (BBWE) 2015 with more events on offer than previous years, bringing more visitors to the city and more fun all round for everyone to enjoy.
