‘Autumn Grants Round’ for Rainbow Fund opens

The Autumn Grants Round for The Rainbow Fund is now open, and organisations are invited to submit their grant applications. The Autumn Grants Round is the bigger of the Fund’s two annual grant rounds. Applications are invited from local LGBT and HIV organisations in Brighton and Hove who provide effective front line services to LGBT people in the city.

Police make donation for accessible toilets at Pride

Brighton & Hove Police have donated £1500 to the Brighton and Hove LGBT Community Safety Forum to fund the hire of a High Dependency mobile Unit (HDU) at Pride this summer. The High Dependency Unit is a specialist facility that provides a range of features which makes events accessible for people with moderate to severe disabilities.

Access to be upgraded again at Brighton Pride 2015

After the success of the award-winning accessibility matters initiative at Pride in 2014, access to this years event will be even easier in 2015. Organisers have moved this years Access Tent and Access Gate at the Pride Festival site to the south end of Preston Park making it easier for those with disabilities and mobility requirements to enjoy their day by making entering and exiting the park easier for those with disabilities and additional mobility requirements.

LGBT Hustings – All candidates present support proposal for NHS Gender Clinic in Brighton

About 65 people attended the first of two LGBT election hustings, organised by The LGBT Community Safety Forum, at The Queens Hotel on Monday April 13. This first one was for Parliamentary Candidates from the three Brighton and Hove Constituencies. The second LGBT election hustings, for candidates who are ward councillors, will be held at the same venue at 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday, April 21.

Personal Awareness & Safety Workshop

The LGBT Community Safety Forum are holding a one day workshop in personal awareness and safety tomorrow, March 11, to help empower people to develop an awareness of basic defence techniques and demonstrate an understanding of how to implement them. The workshop is open to all members of the LGBT communities in Brighton & Hove including older people and those with physical and learning disabilities.
