Kemptown Carnival 2019 prepares for spectacular return!

The Kemptown Carnival 2019 is set to make a spectacular return on Saturday June 1 with the backing and partnership of Brighton Palace Pier and funding from Arts Council England. Oranisers of the much-loved community arts carnival are thrilled to have had their 2019 event license approved by Brighton and Hove City Council Licensing, Sussex Police and the council Events team.

Kemptown Carnival 2018 cancelled

Organisers of the Kemptown Carnival have made the difficult decision to cancel this years event so that the development of the new governing body of the organisation can be fully established. Despite having secured the financial confidence to go forward with the Carnival this year with Brighton Palace Pier due to be announced as the main sponsor, organisers have decided that more time was needed to ensure that the foundations of the new Kemptown Carnival CIC as an emerging Carnival Arts Organisation in the south of England are firmly secure.

No Kemptown Carnival in 2017

Kemptown Carnival will take a year off in 2017 to fundraise and restructure the community group that runs it, with a view to staging the next Carnival in 2018. The Kemptown Carnival Association plans to develop the organisation into a Community Interest Company, which will hopefully have even wider involvement from the local community and build partnerships across the city.
