Charity single benefits Albert Kennedy Trust and GMFA

‘December the 20something’ is a kitsch, classic Christmas pop song recorded by the electro-pop duo Draco Draco to raise funds for the Albert Kennedy Trust and GMFA. The idea came about when the guys were putting the finishing touches to their debut EP ‘River Cry’ so close to the Christmas season, resulting in the birth of ‘December the 20something’ a charity record with 100% of the proceeds being split equally between GMFA (Gay Men Fighting AIDS) and Albert Kennedy Trust.

World AIDS Day fundraisers in London

Organisations, clubs, pubs and bars will be out in force to support GMFA and its HIV prevention work for gay men with preparations for some of these events starting months ago.

HIV organisations renew calls for PrEP as standard

A collective of HIV community organisations renew their call on decision makers to make PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis) available to those most at risk in the UK of becoming infected with HIV. The PROUD study which took place in Kenya and Uganda saw PrEP reduce the risk HIV transmission by 96% in 1000 heterosexual men and women.

A leading men’s health charity and NHS join forces for safer chemsex campaign

GMFA, the leading gay men’s health organisation, and Burrell Street Sexual Health Clinic, the largest and most comprehensive NHS sexual health service in London, are joining forces to give gay men advice to make their chems use safer. The number of gay men using drugs while having sex, particularly G, mephedrone and crystal meth, has increased in recent years. These drugs lower inhibitions, enhance sexual arousal and are mostly cheap and easy to get, often leading to sexual risk-taking. When misused or dosed incorrectly, these drugs can be harmful to gay men’s physical, sexual and mental health. This is why GMFA and Burrell Street are launching Safer Chems – a campaign and web resource to reduce the harms of chemsex.
