Unkept frosty footpaths and slippery streets won’t pose a problem for council staff out and about in the city this winter. Dozens of front line staff are being given rubber Crampons to fit over their shoes and boots, and provide extra grip when walking on slippery paths and roads.
Council’s Cityclean staff work around the clock to keep city clean over Pride weekend. Brighton Pride, the busiest weekend of the year for the council’s refuse, recycling and street cleaners attracted many thousands more visitors to the city centre than in recent years.
Cityclean staff will deliver 60,000 new recycling wheelie bins to Brighton & Hove residents across the city over the next three months with deliveries starting on Monday, June 12. The bins are being introduced in response to requests from residents, as the council aims to improve its recycling service.
Cleaning crews have removed tonnes of rubbish from the side of the A27 and A23 in a series of night time clear ups. Staff from the council’s Cityclean team have been picking up litter from grass verges and central reservations on the two main routes into the city.

Local residents across the city will be joining forces with council staff to give their streets a spring clean this weekend. Over the weekend of March 21 and 22, staff from Brighton & Hove City Council’s Cityclean team will be working with volunteers from residents associations and councillors to clean several areas of the city. The events are being organised as part of National Spring Clean Week.
