The annual Pride Community Parade, the biggest and most colourful visual event in the city’s calendar brings more than 200,000 people onto the streets to watch the spectacle in all its outrageous colour. Reflecting Pride’s on-going commitment to campaigning for global LGBT+ rights, the campaigning theme for 2016 is Uniting Nations.
Following an exceptional and record-breaking year, Brighton Pride in 2016 will be held from Friday, August 5 – Sunday, August 7, 2016. Pride’s campaigning theme for 2016 will be Uniting Nations, reflecting the UK’s favourite Pride festival’s on-going commitment to campaigning for global LGBT+ rights.
No Pride parade is complete without the people. This year the crowd excelled themselves and brought an extra dimension to the days entertainment with extravagant and imaginative costumes.
The theme for the Brighton Pride Community Parade in 2015, Carnival of Diversity generated the most spectacular ideas and costumes for years creating a kaleidoscope of colour.
The decision to re-route the Brighton Pride Community Parade back through Hove and along Western Road following Saturday’s bomb scare gave unique views of the parade against the back drop of the sea on Hove promenade.
Rev Martin Williams, the Archdeacon of Brighton, will be marching on the Pride Community Parade, on Saturday, August 1, with members of the Brighton Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement. The theme of this years parade is Carnival of Diversity. The Parade will start from the Peace Statue on Hove Lawns at 11am progressing along the seafront past the old West Pier, turning left up West Street, turning right at the clock then left at Old Steine and out on the London Road to Preston Park for the main event.
An exhibition for Pride25 at BRUSH. After her success organising the flagship exhibitions for the first two Brighton Pride Arts and Film Festivals in 2013/2014, curator and artist Hizze Fletcher is producing a group-show this year at ‘BRUSH’, her art gallery – hair salon, which is located in Brighton’s historic North Laine.
2015 marks twenty five fantastic years of Pride celebrations in the City of Brighton and Hove. To mark this important milestone, and in recognition of Brighton’s diverse and inspirational community, the theme for Pride in 2015 will be ‘Carnival of diversity’.
