After 33 years of dedicated service, Switchboard’s longest serving volunteer hangs up her telephone headset. Jenny Bennett, Brighton and Hove LGBT Switchboard’s longest serving volunteer has called time on her listening career this month as she moves onto pastures new up North.
Brighton and Hove LGBT Switchboard launch their new brand and logo this month to give clarity to how they support local LGBT+ people. Brighton and Hove LGBT Switchboard is the city’s longest established LGBT+ organisation providing a listening ear to LGBT+ people in Brighton and Hove since 1975.
Switchboard would like to thank volunteers from the LGBT Community Safety Forum for their silver service at our Cream Tea on Monday, February 19. Volunteers from the LGBT Community Safety Forum lovingly prepared and served guests attending the Switchboard Cream Tea cucumber sandwiches, scones with cream and jam.
Continuing their work with hard to reach and seldom heard of groups, Brighton & Hove LGBT Switchboard are to open an LGBT+ dementia café today. With an £11,725 grant awarded by the Rainbow Fund, the Rainbow Café is an exciting new initiative for LGBT+ people living with dementia or memory loss and their friends, families and carers.
Award winning play The Purple List… a gay dementia venture by Libby Pearson will be performed by Ian Baxter on Thursday, February 15 at the opening of the Rainbow Cafe. The performance takes place at Brooke Mead, (the new extra care housing accommodation to be opened by Brighton & Hove City Council) in Albion Street, Brighton, from 11am- 2pm .

Brighton and Hove LGBT Switchboard are to close their counselling service. After 22 years supporting hundreds of individuals within the LGBT+ communities in Susssex, the Trustees of Brighton and Hove LGBT Switchboard have made the difficult decision to close the counselling service.
