Join Writing Our Legacy and special guest Dean Atta for an online social and networking event for writers and creatives of colour to come together and share experiences on Friday, August 28, 6-7pm.

The third in a series of monthly socials with special guests, this event is part of a wider digital programme of activity supported by Arts Council England Emergency Response Fund Grant and produced by Writing Our Legacy, an organisation which aims to raise awareness of the contributions of Black and Ethnic Minority (BME) writers, poets, playwrights and authors born, living or connected to Sussex and the South East.

Dean Atta was named as one of the most influential LGBTQ+ people in the UK by The Independent on Sunday. His debut poetry collection, I Am Nobody’s Nigger, was shortlisted for the Polari First Book Prize. He has a Philosophy and English BA from the University of Sussex and a Writer/Teacher MA from Goldsmiths, University of London. His debut novel, The Black Flamingo, was awarded the 2020 Stonewall Book Award, and shortlisted for the CILIP Carnegie Medal, YA Book Prize and Jhalak Prize.
