Working for the community in St James Street

St James Street Action Group

Community activists, local businesses and the Council’s street lighting manager were joined by The Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership, a local councillor and the police for an unusual but important event this Halloween.

St James Community Action Group (SJSAG) organised a street inspection of lighting throughout the St James Street area. Following on from the significant achievements achieved with improved lighting last year on St James St, the team concentrated its efforts on the side streets.

Assurances were received from council officers that specific attention would be given to additional/enhanced lighting in New Steine Mews, the area adjoining the Peace Park in Dorset Gardens, Steine Street and the car park adjacent to Cavendish Street.

The missing column on the High Street is to be installed and new white lighting introduced on Chapel Street and Rock Place.

The Community Action Group urges all local residents to report sites that require attention either directly to the Council or via the SJCAG at sjcag2012@gmail.com
