More than 9,000 general places were sold over the summer – the largest number in the race’s 26-year history – and charity places are now the only way for runners to enter the race.

Runners can choose to run for over 35 charities, including local charities The Sussex Beacon, RISE and Chestnut Tree House, and national charities Scope, WaterAid, Shelter, Bloodwise, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Macmillan, the Alzheimer’s Society, Prostate Cancer UK and many more.

Race director Martin Harrigan, said: “The Vitality Brighton Half Marathon is unique in the range and scope of charities that we partner with. Charities both local and national are a major part of the race and we believe charity runners contribute hugely to the unique character and experience of the event.”

Celebrating its 26th year in 2016, the race is one of the best-loved half marathons in the UK, with its famous seafront course and the fantastic support it gets from crowds watching the race.

Race day for 2016 is Sunday, February 28, and the race is ideal timing for anyone training for a Spring marathon, such as Brighton, London, Manchester or Paris.

The Vitality Brighton Half Marathon is organised by and the main fundraiser for Brighton-based charity The Sussex Beacon, a unique centre providing innovative services to meet the changing needs of people living with HIV. Runners can choose to be part of Team Beacon and help raise funds for The Sussex Beacon.
