Queer Theatre announces latest initiative, OutCast – a “celebration of queer voices and stories”

Brian Butler January 22, 2025

Following the highly successful launch of Queer Theatre, the company has announced its latest initiative OutCast.

This annual series, which will premiere in February at the iconic queer venue The Two Brewers in Clapham, will feature a range of performances from new and rediscovered LGBTQ+ writing, aiming to spread the range of queer voices and stories.

There will be three OutCast showcases during the year, in February, July and October, directed by award-winning artistic director and founder of Queer Theatre, Andrew Keates.

Queer Theatre includes among its patrons Sir Stephen Fry, playwright Martin Sherman and actor Annette Badland, all of whom support its mission to provide a platform for LGBTQ+ voices in the performing arts.

The showcases will feature participants in Queer Theatre’s 2B: Acting Classes – with some performers taking to the stage for the first time. The classes are held regularly at The Two Brewers, and run by Andrew.

Andrew told me: “OutCast feels like something we’ve always needed. It’s a celebration of queer voices and stories from emerging talents finding their feet to established performers, eager to explore new writing. We choose to open our doors to those who want to see what we’ve been doing.”
